I practiced law in a general practice firm, Hickam & Lorenz, PC, in Spencer, Indiana, for 20 years. During that time, I participated in Indiana Supreme Court committees, including Unrepresented Litigants committee and the Indiana Pro Bono Commission and won the District 10 Pro Bono Award.
For the past nine years, I was director of Special Projects/Section-Committee Liaison for the Indiana State Bar Association and won national recognition for many of the projects including the Mentor Match Program, Surrogate Attorney Handbook and Business Education for Lawyers with Butler University.
I refocused my career to general practice law emphasizing family law and criminal law in the summer of 2016 and bring extensive expertise to bear for my clients. Family law includes adoptions, dissolution of marriage, child support matters and visitation issues as well as pre and post nuptial agreements. Additionally, I serve as a guardian ad litem in cases involving children and adults.
I hold a J.D. from Indiana University Mauer School of Law, a Master’s degree in Human Development/Counseling from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and the Family/Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
